National Democratic Party (NDC) leader John Dramani Mahama claims the ruling party (NPP) has put the nation in a dire situation.
He claims that the economy is currently at a standstill in every industry.
"This is just awful. We all need to assist in getting the bus back on the road because it has fallen into a ditch while we are going," he remarked.
The former president, who is attempting a comeback, thinks the NDC has the experience necessary to put the nation back on the path of progress.
"The NDC is the only political party capable of advancing the nation. Thus, we are aware that the NDC must come back and fix the bus so that it can continue the trip.
He stressed, "The country is in a difficult place, the economy is bad, and the country is in debt."
John Mahama was kicking off a two-day tour of the Bono Region by giving a speech at a meeting with the Wenchi Tradition Council.
Known as the "Building Ghana Tour" Meeting voters and declaring his intention to run for president again will be the main goals of the exercise.
The issues raised during the tour will be incorporated into the NDC's general election manifesto in 2024.
Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoapong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief, underlined the lack of development in the area and advocated for giving agriculture development priority.
"Our economy is centred on agriculture, but we haven't had much success with it. When you enter government, we want you to modernise our Farm College, which has at least 400 students," he said.
"You know the benefit of agriculture," he continued. I hope Wenchi emerges as the nation's top agricultural region."
The former president claims that despite more than thirty years of constitutional government, the nation has not yet seen the anticipated progress.
Speaking briefly about agricultural development, Mr. Mahama disclosed the NDC's intention to change agriculture by constructing a cashew processing plant in the Bono Region.
