Wiyaala to discover artists from many cultures
The second iteration of Ghanaian musician Wiyaala's cultural talent search, called Yaga Yaga Talent Show, has returned.
In 2022, Wiyaala founded the Yaga Yaga Talent Show with the goal of providing chances for all cultural performers in the Upper West Region.
The winning participants will get GHS 5,000 in cash awards.
The Upper West Region of Ghana's First and Last Gardens will host the auditions on December 2, 2023, while the finale is scheduled for December 30, 2023.
When asked why she launched the project, Wiyaala explained that the dearth of possibilities she had as a child to display her potential had influenced her choice to organize this talent search for her people.
"There weren't many opportunities for talented people in my community to exhibit their artwork while I was growing up. Now, I'm providing local talent with that opportunity along with the UPPER WEST PRTV team.
Bigger financial awards are now available for this year's competition, along with chances for artists to pursue various artistic mediums and valuable experience for those who might want to move on to national talent contests in Accra or elsewhere, the spokesperson added.
