AFCON 2023 Winner: $7M Prize Boost!
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) champion will receive more money, according to a statement from the Confederation of African Football.
The continental tournament champion in 2023 will get prize money that has been increased by 40%.
Ivory Coast's victorious squad will take home $7 million.
Additionally, the competition's runner-up will receive $4 million. Every one of the four quarterfinalists will win $1.3 million, while each of the two semi-finalists will receive $2.5 million.
"CAF has made significant progress over the past two years in increasing the Prize Money of the AFCON and all of its other major competitions," stated Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of CAF.
"The prize money for the AFCON winner has been upped to USD 7,000,000, a 40% increase over the previous prize money.
I'm sure that some of the prize money will help all the football stakeholders and advance the game. It will also help our Member Associations with their administrative needs."
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition will begin on January 13 and end on February 11, 2024, with the final scheduled for that date.
