Premier League Glory: Michael Essien on Ghana's Representation
The chance to raise the Ghanaian flag in the Premier League, according to former midfielder Michael Essien, was "great."
Essien joined Chelsea from Olympique Lyon in France, and he played for the club from 2005 until 2014.
He said that spending £24.4 million to be signed by former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic to play in the English premier league was a dream come true.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Essien stated, "My dream was to play in the Premier League, so when the opportunity came, I jumped on it and it was great to represent Ghana in the Premier League."
"I played football at the time, and it involved a lot of physicality. I demonstrated that it was not difficult for me to adjust."
The Ghanaian went on to win two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and the UEFA Champions League with the Blues, among other significant trophies.
