The rapper Davido from Nigeria is unwavering in his pledge to provide financial support to orphanages in his country each year.
The musician, who is nominated for a Grammy, announced on social media that N300 million, or $186,764, will be donated again this year.
"My foundation and I promise to donate 300 million Naira to orphanages around Nigeria. as my annual gift to the country... specifics of payment tomorrow," Davido wrote.
In 2021, Davido started giving money to orphans annually after receiving N200 million from friends, colleagues in the industry, and supporters. This came after he kindly asked for donations to help him celebrate his birthday.
On November 19, 2021, Davido declared that he would donate an additional N50 million to orphans out of the N250 million that had been raised.
This served as the impetus for the establishment of his foundation, The David Adeleke Foundation, in 2022, which also managed the monies' distribution in that same year.

He disclosed in February 2022 that the establishment of a five-member disbursement committee ensured that about 292 worthy orphanages received their fair share of funding to run.
Davido gave N237 million in donations again in 2023.
The musician claimed that 13,818 youngsters benefited from the donation made through his charity, The David Adeleke charity (DAF), which is chaired by Mrs. Titi Adebayo, the DAF Disbursement Committee chair.
