The musician Wendy Shay addressed the criticism following her on-camera monetary donation to K.K. Kabobo.
Wendy Shay clarified in an interview with Hitz FM's Daybreak Hitz that although she regularly performs good deeds off-camera, she chose to give to K.K. Kabobo in public to draw attention to his situation.
She made it clear that her intention was to raise awareness of the critical need for help rather than just to make a gift.

"I contribute to society and make a lot of donations off-camera. This action was unique since I was genuinely pleading with people to assist him. The singer said, "I wanted to show people the real situation so they would come forth with help."
The GH₵10,000 that Wendy Shay donated was meant to help with K.K. Kabobo's liver illness treatment.
Wendy Shay is steadfast in her charitable work and in her support of K.K. Kabobo in spite of the controversy.
This comes after K.K. Kabobo's family disclosed in February that he had been fighting liver disease for months and required financial assistance from the public.
The musician received financial donations from the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), the wife of Vice President Samira Bawumia, and former President John Mahama.
